Rau was selected to be part of the "team" prior to the start of design work, and provided in-depth preconstruction services. This included preliminary budgeting and scheduling, value engineering, assistance in material and system selection, and performance base bidding of mechanical and electrical system. The 2 story steel framed building uses several new an innovative exterior materials. The exposed steel framing at the entry and around the perimeter of the roof add to the "high tech" feel of the building. The window system used was the first application in the Kansas City are of a new Kawneer system that allowed glazing to be placed in any of 3 horizontal planes within the window mullion. The sunshades on the East, South and North of the building not only add to the esthetics of the structure but play an integral role in the operation of the building. The interior of the building incorporates numerous high tech features. The T1 data service is distributed throughout the building, along with video conferencing capabilities. |

|
Conference Rooms and the Training Facility have multiple data and communication possibilities. The Training Facility also has electronically controlled projection screens and operable wall partitions. Close attention to details and fine workmanship are present throughout the building, but are exemplified in the millwork and casework making this facility functional and user friendly. |
