OUR HISTORY:

Rau Construction Company was started in Germany, in approximately 1870, by Gustave Fredric Rau, Master Builder. In the year 1903, Gustave Fredric Rau, Jr. (son of Gustave Fredric Rau, born in 1877) brought the profession of the Master Builder to the United States of America. He located in Cincinnati, Ohio for approximately one year and then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where the business was continued and eventually incorporated on September 30,1921.

During the years preceding World War II industrial construction includinghistory2 breweries, packing plants and boiler works were the Company's main source of construction activity. The Company was active in the construction and in design of facilities in both North and South America. During the 1920's and 1930's the Company maintained offices in Kansas City, New York and California to handle its national and international business.

Gus Rau Meyer and Dan Rau Meyer, both sons of Jappy and Stan Meyer, are the fifth generation of the family to represent Rau Construction Company. Both Gus and Dan graduated from the University of Kansas, Gus with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and Dan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering and a Bachelor of Environmental Design. Both Gus and Dan have served the Company as laborers, cost estimators, project managers, vice-presidents, stockholders and directors and currently serve as President and Senior Vice President respectively.
